Online Risk Register

Temperature degrades too quickly

After a certain amount of time, temperature may degrades because of thermal breakthrough and thus reduce the overall system performance. This risk is generally encountered when management plan of the field is incorrect, and might be due to poor characterisation of uncertainties associated to reservoir parameters and inaccurate modelling of reservoir behaviour with time

Informations

  • Category: Risks due to subsurface uncertainties
  • Id: D-4
  • Phases:
    • Exploitation / Development
  • Consequences:
    • Economic / Performance / Acceptability

Mitigation

  • Prevention:
    • Thorough reservoir management plan ( e.g. thermal fluid re-injection)
    • Select suitable production rates
  • Monitoring:
    • Accurate collection and interpretation of temperature data measured in existing wells to provide  information for temperature forecast
    • Doing new temperature measurements in existing wells to provide information for temperature forecast

The colors represent a computation of typical percentage of answers expected for each cell in the risk matrix. The numbers in each cell represent the actual answers from the risk survey.
